” Zin ” with the release of their first album, Fem Vole, clearly brought a new tempo to Haitian music. Zin front line in the transition of “Nouvelle the Generation” of Konpa at a time when the genre was at a standstill.

The idea to create a very high caliber Konpa music band came from Alex Abellard. In 1985, while attending The City College of New York, he met Eddy Saint-Vil, another passionate musician who was also dreaming of creating a Konpa band that could reach the top of the Konpa music world.

ZIN, currently dubbed “The Hit Music Factory”, is one of the most popular Haitian Konpa music bands. The group’s first public appearance in the beginning of 1988 at The City College of New York was a huge success and people knew then that ZIN was destined to be among the greatest in the world of Konpa music.

Live on stage, ZIN electrifies the crowd with ten musicians. The sweet and beautiful voice of Alan Cave, the spicy tone of Alex Abellard, and “Princess Georgy” dancing in sync with Daphne Dary, another female background singer, keep the crowd on its feet all night long.

ZIN is based in New York and performs every weekend (Friday, Saturday and Sunday). Some of their regular spots are: SOB’s (N.Y.), Le Rendez-Vous (Brooklyn), Brasserie Creole (Queens), Café Des Arts (L.I.). However, ZIN has thrilled audiences all over the world: Haiti (Henfrasa: 20,000 people), Canada (Metropolis: 4,000 people), France (Espace Chevreul: 2,500 people), Central Park New York: 15,000 people, New Orleans Jazz Festival: 10,000 people etc.
