Black Parents is a Haitian music group known for its infectious fusion of Ragga-Konpa, a style that blends traditional Konpa with reggae influences. The group took the Haitian music scene to new heights in the year 2000 with the release of their debut album, Sensualité, featuring the breakout hit “Vini-m Pale-w Cheri.” The song and album quickly climbed to the top of the Konpa charts, earning acclaim in Haiti, Montreal, New York, Paris, and across the Antilles.

Despite their later success, Black Parents didn’t find immediate traction in their hometown club scene. Based in Montreal, Canada, they struggled at first to book larger gigs, performing primarily in local nightclubs during a time when the Haitian music market in Canada was relatively slow. To gain recognition, bands needed to stick close to the roots of Konpa—a challenge for a group experimenting with genre fusion.

But Black Parents weren’t strangers to music. The group comes from a rich musical lineage; their predecessors, Les Frères Parents, were known for politically charged lyrics. In contrast, the younger generation sought to forge their own path with a lighter, more party-driven sound and a fresh creative blueprint.

They gained attention for popularizing a new wave in Haitian music, introducing a modernized Konpa with reggae vibes and accessible, feel-good lyrics. Their hard work paid off. As their unique sound gained traction, the group began receiving widespread airplay and building a loyal fan base across Miami, New York, Haiti, and beyond.

Their discography includes other standout releases like:

  • Fruit De La Passion (2022)

  • Kanaval Vagabon (2022)

  • Fanatik (2016)

Today, Black Parents continues to represent a bold chapter in Haitian music history, bridging generational influences and expanding the creative possibilities of Konpa. They are now signed with B.E. RELATIONS PUBLISHING, a move that marks a new era of professional growth and global reach for their musical catalog.
