NEW YORK – The Haitian Times musical and art festivity’s Kreyolfest will be held on Saturday June 30th at Wingate Park to continue its ……tradition. The musical line up that is sure to satisfy a broad range of taste when the gates open at Brooklyn’s Wingate Park on Saturday June 24, 2006. Kreyolfest TM, which is celebrating its 7th year, is fast becoming one of the top outdoor festivals in New York City and a place for family and friends to gather under a warm ambiance. The festival also features Miami-based Nu Look, New York’s own Zin and CARIMI. Special guests include Diblo Dibala, the legendary Congolese Soukous guitarist and his full band with the world famous female dancers and a major artist to be announced later. In addition, 509, Miami’s hottest up and coming band and Haiti’s carnival king Koudjay will add much spice to an already hot line up.
In addition to the musical festivities, festival goers will have access to an all day health fair where they can check blood pressure, heart rate and dental check up for their children.
Doors open exactly at Noon. The first 2,000 people will receive a free gift. In addition to the music and food, KreyolFest TM will have a kiddie carnival from Noon until 2 PM.The line up which features – Orchestre Septentrional, RAM, Zenglen, CaRiMi, Nu Look, T-Vice and Djakout Mizik, 509 – incorporates, jazz , roots, big band, techno and full band Haitian musical genres.

“We are thrilled with the line up and look forward to yet another great festival,” said Garry Pierre-Pierre, editor and publisher of the Haitian Times, Kreyolfest’ organizer. “We diversify the acts every year so that we give the audience a chance to see bands that they otherwise wouldn’t see anywhere.” Pierre-Pierre pointed that only three acts from last year’s festival are returning. This pattern has been a staple of Kreyolfest since its inception. While the Haitian Times and Enigma – the co-organizers – diversify the line up, they make sure that the hot bands return.
“At the same time, we have to give the people what they want,” said Pierre-Pierre. “Everyone knows who they are. People ask for these bands if they don’t see them in the initial line up.”
